I’m devastated. Nick’s Fish Market loop location has shut down.

This was one of my favorite lunch time locations, and while it was a “fish market” they had one of the best kobe beef burgers and fries in Chicago. If you had a private room one could get virtually anything on or off the menu and the service was top shelf.

I have roughly 15 years of outstanding memories at Nick’s Fish Market with both family and friends; however, the closing of this location is yet another chapter that has come to end in my life.

Why did this close down? Revenue dropped 30% year over year and the bank, J. P. Morgan Chase & Co, was unwilling to work with management to restructure the lease.

Sad.

While the Rosemont location will remain open it will not be the same.

Man ran down ‘too Westernized’ daughter

Arizona police are looking for an Iraqi man who they allege ran down his daughter and her friend because he believed his daughter had become “too Westernized.”
Police say they’re looking for Faleh Hassan Almaleki, who they say struck two people with a vehicle Tuesday.
Peoria, Arizona, police said Wednesday that Faleh Hassan Almaleki, 48, struck his 20-year-old daughter, Noor Faleh Almaleki, and her friend Amal Edan Khalaf with a vehicle he was driving in a parking lot Tuesday afternoon.
Faleh Hassan Almaleki was angry with his daughter “as she had become too ‘Westernized’ and was not living according to [the family's] traditional Iraq[i] values,” Peoria police said in a statement released Wednesday.
Noor Faleh Almaleki is hospitalized with life-threatening injuries, according to the statement. Khalaf, 43, received injuries that are not life-threatening but is still in the hospital, police said.

Really?

Well, it looks like my excitement over the full season return of Futurama was very – very short lived.

Why?

It looks as if the original cast will not be returning to do the voice over work.

“We love the ‘Futurama’ voice performers and absolutely wanted to use them, but unfortunately, we could not meet their salary demands,” the studio said in a statement Friday. “While replacing these talented actors will be difficult, the show must go on.”

What Fox Studios doesn’t seem to be remembering is that the voice actors ARE the show.  The inflections, the method of delivery, and the inside jabs that come through are all picked up by the views to make a total viewing experience.  Sure, The Simpsons voice talent experienced the same issues – and ended up winning – but I fear that will not be case with Futurama.

At this point, I’d much rather have no new episodes than some watered down version of what the show once was.

I now understand why The Orb had to call off their North American tour.

I’m sad to hear that long time Orb collaborator, DJ and producer, Andy Hughes, has passed away at the age of 44. No major details have been released, but it looks as if he had a short lived sickness that focused on his liver. A donation fund was established at King’s College Hospital.

A copy of his obit can be found at Synthtopia.

My thoughts are with Andy’s family and friends.

No, no – for the love of your holy god – NO!

The octuplets mom (and her spoats team of a family) are getting a reality TV show.

The Southern California woman who gave birth to the world’s longest-surviving set of octuplets has signed a deal to star in areality television series, her lawyer said Sunday.

Nadya Suleman, who gave birth to the six boys and two girls in January and also has six other children, agreed to be filmed for a proposed television show by 3Ball Productions, attorney Jeff Czech said.

Boy, you don’t think this was part of her master plan, do you?

I mean… she:

  • was too busy to date because of here kids
  • was too busy to manage a meaningful income so she needed to live off of her student loans
  • couldn’t give enough time to her kids so had a large number of people help her… but most of them quit

All the while:

  • she had publicist
  • appeared in high profile interviews
  • stated that she intended to PROFIT from her disabled child

So, she was too busy for life (except for gestating a few kids) but she isn’t too busy to have every aspect of her life documented for a TV. Seriously this just pisses me off beyond belief.
