Bug

This evening I happened upon a movie from 2007 staring Ashley Judd. Bug. “Hmm, interesting name” I thought to myself as I sat waiting for the show to start on Showtime… or Cinemax… whatever. From the get go I knew I was in trouble.

The movie was horrible! So bad, I couldn’t even watch past the first 26 minutes. The story seemed aimless, the acting was just awful. Hell, one would have thought Ashley Judd and Harry Connick, Jr. would have turned in better performances. Apparently not.

Bad story and bad acting aside, I’m shocked that William Friedkin – yes William “The Exorcist” Friedkin – would even attach his name to this hunk of crap. Well, I guess it s not that surprising he would as he never really had any other major movies, but still… Come on Billy!

I wouldn’t even put this movie on a DVD let alone direct to DVD.

The Venture Bros.

At this very moment Adult Swim [AS] is showing “My Dinner with Hatred”, an episode of The Venture Brothers from Season 3. While this specific episode isn’t bad, there is some great one liners, it reminds me just how off Season 3 was from Dr. Venture and Brock.

I don’t know what exactly caused the season to go awry…

I seem to remember the producers of the show having an issue with Adult Swim changing the order in which the episodes aired. Maybe that caused an inconsistency with the overall “flow” of the season but it just didn’t work as well as past.

Season 4 will start this fall, I just hope the magic is still there.

16 Porn Stars infected with HIV in one week

Anyone – ANYONE – who things to themselves “Going around having unprotected sex with random ‘actors’ seems like a safe thing” is just a bit off… well.. maybe not off but definitely fooling themselves. There is nothing safe about it.

So, when the news breaks a story about 16 porn stars infected with HIV (in one week) are you really that surprised?

Despite porn industry assurances that an adult film actress’ recent positive HIV test is the first since a 2004 outbreak shut down production for a month, Los Angeles County health officials said Thursday that at least 16 additional unpublicized cases of HIV have been confirmed in adult film performers.

Didn’t think so.

What was surprising, however, was this:

Since 2004, 2,378 people who identified themselves as adult film industry performers have tested positive for chlamydia in Los Angeles County. An additional 1,357 tested positive for gonorrhea and 15 for syphilis, according to data released Thursday by the county’s health department.

That is just a lot of VD! Thank god you can’t get it from watching porn.

So the new Miss California thinks… well….

Oh, I love it when a plan comes together. The new Miss California also believes that marriage should be between a man and a woman. Interesting you don’t hear this breaking out to be a huge story:

Fox News host Neil Cavuto asked Farrell, who is Christian, on his show today:

“[Prejean] went out and said that a marriage is between a man and a woman. Do you share that view?”

Farrell responded in the affirmative with a simple, “Uh huh.”

“You do, OK,” said Cavuto.

Farrell quickly added: “I don’t think that I have the right or anybody has a right to tell somebody who they can or can’t love. And I think that this is a civil rights issue. And I think that the right thing to do is let the voters decide.”

You are right, let the voters decide… and they did.

Almost 30 days ago, Donald Trump stated that Carrie Prejean, the Miss California who gave a controversial answer regarding same sex marriage – as well as experienced semi-nude photos being released, is no longer Miss California.

Why? Breach of Contract.

Here is what the Miss California USA pageant has to say:

“This was a decision based solely on contract violations,” Keith Lewis, executive director of K2 Productions, said in the release. “After our press conference in New York we had hoped we would be able to forge a better working relationship. However, since that time it has become abundantly clear that Carrie has no desire to fulfill her obligations under our contract and work together.”

And Trump says:

“I told Carrie she needed to get back to work and honor her contract with the Miss California Organization and I gave her the opportunity to do so,” Trump said in the same release. “Unfortunately it just doesn’t look like it is going to happen and I offered Keith my full support in making this decision.”

Interesting that the story fails to mention why they believe she was in breach of contract.  Well, thedirty.com has a potential exclusive as to why she got cut:

1) Carrie was unavailable for the pageant organized interviews. She committed to only 1 of the 17 interviews that were scheduled. Sadly, the pageant had pitched 46 different entities for press interviews with Carrie but only 17 agreed. The others refused because of the controversy that Carrie was embroiled in.

2) The main sponsors for Miss California USA sent letters to the organization claiming that they will no longer sponsor the pageant because of the controversy that Carrie had caused. Her statements against gay marriage and rights and the lies regarding images of her had appalled the sponsors and their clients.

3) The costs for the organization to deal with the controversies caused by Carrie far outweighed the revenues they could possibly ever recoup from her representation. These costs were primarily legal fees including notifying Carrie of her multiple contract breaches as well as the public relations costs for the unremitting damage control.

When you play in the big leagues be ready for the other team to bring the heat, Carrie. Speaking your mind is one thing, but if you truly did not meet the terms of your contract what did you expect to happen?

Several weeks back the news was a buzz about Miss California, Carrie Prejean.  Not because she actually won anything but because she made specific comments about gay marriage – more specifically, the fact that her interpretation of faith did not allow for gay marriage.

Well, her comments – she says – caused her the crown of Miss USA.

Today the web is abuzz with “revealing pictures” of Carrie Prejean.  Apparently, when she first started modeling Ms. Prejean took some nude photos.  But where they nude?  Here is the photo in question via The Dirty.com.  (Yes, this is safe for work)

Because of this picture the Miss California USA officials are thinking of stripping her of her title.

Frankly, I don’t care if she posed nude or semi-nude.  It really doesn’t concern me.  What gets me here is that I think – really think – this young woman is being penalized for her views. Because she said something unpopular now the “news” is digging into her past, looking for something to really hang her on.

Carrie Prejean stood up for what she believes in and the the world is chastising her.  Based off of her comments and this single picture, I don’t think she deserves the negative press she is getting.  Yes, she has made herself a public figure…but is this really the “Freedom of Speech” we want in the United States?

Listen, she could say her views on faith allow for midget tossing while smoking a bong on the 3rd Sunday of ever second month. Just because one doesn’t care for what she is saying, or believe what she is saying, doesn’t give them the right to attack her.  Do we want to let a segment of the population rip others apart simply because they were not happy with something that was said?

Bottom line, if what someone says isn’t criminal speech, why do we, the general public, allow such behavior to take place?
