The Terminator series got some good news yesterday. Terminator 5 was “greenlit” even thought Terminator Salvation (aka #4) hasn’t even hit theaters yet.
I was very… cautious… about Terminator Rise of the Machines. I thought it was a ploy to make more money (well, what isn’t, really) but I actually enjoyed the movie. How can you go wrong with Nick Stahl and Claire Danes?
Well, with Terminator 4, McG (Charlie’s Angels, We are Marshall) and Christian Bale (as in “Batman” Christian Bale) signed on for both episodes, it will be interesting to see how it plays out.
Here is my one question – what happens if Terminator 4 isn’t a box office success? That is an expensive bet for the studios, no?
Need a break from the day? Need a quick smile? Take a 60 second time out and watch the Old Spice Commercial featuring Bruce Campbell (of Evil Dead fame) Best. Commercial. Ever.
I enjoy anime, and animation in general, but when it comes to anime I find myself pulled into shows that have compelling characters and stories – none of this fan service crap. Usually shows that are dark and have characters that are facing some major conflict tend to capture my interest.
Last evening I was watching the “Ballad of Fallen Angels” episode of Cowboy Bebop and was reminded how beautiful and emotional animation can be. The music, the color… wonderful. Here is the last 8 minutes “Ballad of Fallen Angels” where you can witness what I am talking about.
The fourth feature-length Futurama movie, Futurama: Into the Wild Green Yonder, is headed to your DVD player on February 24th (also available on Blu-ray).
There are a number of interesting guest stars joining the cast this time, including illusionist Penn Jillette, of Penn and Teller, Snoop Dogg, and the creator of Family Guy Seth MacFarlane, I’m sure good times will be had by all, but what is bitter sweet about this release is that this movie is expected to be their last…
With a new season Flight of the Conchords only about a month away, maybe HBO will wake up to the fact that they have a hit here - even thought the following of the group is rather small.
This news is even better than finding out Little Britain USA will be back for a second season – The Kids in the Hall will be back for an 8 episode miniseries, but the show will not be sketch comedy.
“It’ll be an eight-episode arc with a narrative running through it and we will play all the characters but it won’t be sketch, it’ll be a single narrative miniseries. Probably the closest thing to it will probably be something like (the defunct cult British series) ‘League of Gentlemen,’ which I think was brilliant. So I hope it will be close to that.”says Dave Foley, Kids in the Hall member.
No word on when the show will be aired, but stilll…Rock on!
Has anyone had the chance to witness this new show on Animal Planet called “Whale Wars”? Holy god does it piss me off.
Before I go any further I need to get it out there – I am a huge animal lover. Sad to say, there are times when I would much prefer to help an injured animal before I would help a person. Hell, I helped a three-legged mouse cross the street one time. (Really long story)
Ok. Back to Whale Wars.
There is a group called “Sea Shepherd Conservation Society”, founded by a former Greenpeace member, that has made it their mission to stop Japanese whalers in the Artic circle. That is honorable. The big problem is this: Most legal experts believe the Japanese are not breaking the law.
Well, the “Sea Shepherd” employs very questionable methods – borderline violent.
Take a look at this video:
Maybe sailing up to a boat and throwing things at it will not be considered violent… confrontational, sure. What about illegally boarding another vessel and then, once your crew is illegally on board of the other ship, claim they are hostages because the other ship will not let them go.
Recall that I am an animal lover, and if the Japanese whalers are breaking the law they need to be held accountable. Plain and simple. However, it looks like they are NOT breaking the law but the Sea Shepherd crew members are… and they need to be held accountable, not considered heroes.
It pisses me off because it appears the Sea Shepherds act as if the law doesn’t apply to them, which really makes it hard to claim someone else is in the wrong when they, themselves, are not acting within the law.
Just a reminder, Metalocalypse - Season 2 - is out on DVD as of 12/02/2008. Chances are you’ve never really had much exposure to this, which is OK, but you really have no clue as to what you are missing.
Pure. Comedy. Gold.
Here you go, enjoy. Oh, and yes, this is a bit unsafe for work.
Good news, everybody! The Flight of the Conchords Season 2 premier will be online, available at Funny or Die.com starting 12/17/2008 at noon and will run through 12/21.
As cool as this is, I’m conflicted with the policies of HBO.
They go and cancel highly acclaimed, well followed shows, such as Deadwood, leaving fans in a lurch, yet they do something progressive like have a premiers online or have shows available “On Demand” before they air on the network.
Regardless, I know what I will be doing come 12/17
