Here is another gem from the Chicago Cubs’ anti-hero, Milton Bradley:

Bradley, known for emotional outbursts throughout his career, said what he’s gone through is not new and is not surprising.

“It’s nothing that just started when Milton Bradley came here,” he said.

So does he regret signing with the Cubs, who are his seventh major league team?

“I don’t regret anything,” he said. “I regret that there are idiots in the world, that’s what I regret.”

I’d start off by saying that people who speak about themselves in the third person qualify as idiots.  That said, Bradley does not seem to understand that saying something along the lines of “I regret that there are idiots in the world” while having a discussion about how fans treat his is akin to Chicago Cub supporters idiots.

Classy move, Milton.

I suspect he will not be on the roster in 2010 even if it means the team needs to eat his entire salary.

The Chicago Cubs suck – FLAT OUT SUCK.  The high hopes I had at the beginning of the year came crashing down roughly a month ago like an ill played game of jenga.  The team was tied for first place but a major losing streak helped the team understand they were not play off material this year.
There is no one reason as to why the Cubs are in the world of hurt they are in right now, there are four.
1)Alfonso Soriano only has 19 home runs and continues to bat .240.
2)The inconsistent Carlos Zambrano.  Is he hurt or not?  Is simply acting out or not?  At this very moment it looks like he’s more of a head case on the field than anything.
3)The trading of Mark DeRosa for two obscure minor league pitchers. One of the best players on the team in 2008 get sent away for nothing.
4)Milton “the whiner” Bradley – 10 home runs, .259 batting average
When the signing of Bradley was announced during the past off seasons Cub fans everywhere had a collective feeling of shock and confusion.  Why the hell would the Chicago Cubs pay a guy $5 million in 2009, $9 million in 2010 and  $12 million in 2011 if he’s never had one 25+ home run season?
Really, why?
Even though fans were skeptical, they still wanted the guy to perform for his money.  Thus far he has not and the crowds have consistently expressed their disappointment. Instead of being a professional about it, instead of saying “Wow, I do suck.  I don’t deserve the money I’m making” Bradley attempts to make this an external problem (the fans) and not his performance

“It’s hard to be comfortable when you don’t get a hit and get booed every time,” he said. “When I go home and look in the mirror, I like what I see. My family is there I have people I can talk to who are very supportive, in spite of everything and all the adversity and the hatred you face on a daily basis. But I’ll be alright. I always have.”
You get paid large amounts of money to be comfortable, Milton.  Unless you are facing some medical issue that prevents you from performing stop whining about not feeling comfortable at Wrigley.  Stop complaining that fans boo you.  Stop blaming everyone and everything for your failing and start taking credit.
Ironically, Milton, you feel comfortable picking up your paycheck, don’t you?

As a young one I was a huge fan a baseball.  HUGE.  I played, I enjoyed, I collected… I really enjoyed it.  Around 1992 my enjoyment of the sport – all aspects of the sport – simply stopped.  I’m not sure why but it just vanished.

Yea, I remember watching Cal Ripken break Lou Gehrig’s consecutive-games played record.  I wasn’t really excited about it; I simply figured it was some form of history in the making so why not watch?  There was the whole Mark McGwire/Sammy Sosa home run race in 1998 that tickled my fancy once again, but I couldn’t really get back into it for some reason. The 2003 Cubs season changed a lot of that as it was the first time I felt the excitement and passion once again. While it did not come close to what I had in my childhood, it was back all because of the lovable losers, the Cubs.

I don’t really watch the games on TV, nor do I go to Wrigley to catch an afternoon outing.  I tend to catch the highlights on ESPN or check into Cubs.com everyone once and awhile… but there is still something in me that gains great enjoyment from the sport, something that makes me say I’m a Cubs fan…

I’m glad the season is here.  Maybe this will be the year…

I mean, really… The Chicago Cubs had the best record the National League and their “magical” season ended in three suck-ass games with the final being a 3-1 loss in L.A.

This is quite sad….

With so much fun in the news, I’m sure a number of things may have passed you buy.  Here a some of the items that stuck out to me:

  1. The world of science would like to inform you that Sunspots Are ther Fewest Since 1954 but they don’t know what that means…

  2. Both the Chicago Cubs and White Sox have entered a whole of hurt by starting the playoffs 0-2.  So many people will be unhappy next week when both teams are out of the race

  3. There is some sick form of justice in life – OJ was found guilty on robbery and kidnapping charges, and i just have to wonder if he is going to a federal pound me in the ass prison.

  4. Weekly mugshots are available from Thesmokinggun.com.  Picture number seven looks as if they caught a rooster.

  5. For the SciFi fan in your – some self loving, egocentric, hollywood type is in the process of writing Blade Runner 2.  Why in your gods name would Hollywood want to kill the cult classic?  So very sad.

That’s it for now!  Enjoy your weekend.

With a 93 and 60 record, the Cubs just beat the St. Louis Cardinals to clinch a post-season spot.  This is the first time in a century the Cubs have back to back play off seasons.

Is the World Series next?
