I’m making my version of beer chili this evening. While I will not be live blogging the experience, I’ll provide a picture once I’ve complete the mini masterpiece.
For those interested, here is my recipe for Beer Chili. You’ll need:
- 2 cans (8 oz) tomato sauce
- 1 can (8 oz) diced tomato w/ garlic
- Diced onions (an amount of your liking)
- 1 can of pinto beans
- Corn (an amount of your liking)
- Macaroni
- 2 tblsp of chili pepper
- 1 tsp of cayenne pepper
- 1 tsp of celery seeds
- 1 tsp of oregno
- 1 bottle of beer (I’ll be using Hoegaarden)
- 2 lbs of ground sirloin
- Salt (as needed)
And for the cooking…
- Cook up the beef and the macaroni (obviously not together)
- Simmer the tomato sauce, onions, corn and beer for about 5 mins
- At the 5 mins mark add the chili pepper, celery seeds ans simmer for another 5 mins
- At the 10 min mark add the sirloin, macaroni and cayenne pepper (be careful as the pepper has a kick!)
- At 15 min mark taste, salt if needed and let simmer for another 5 mins
As noted before, I’ll post a picture once the meal is done.
UPDATE: And here is the picture…
This was a great meal that will have plenty of leftovers for the week. Depending on how much of a kick you care for, you can adjust the Chili powder… Done correctly, however, it will provide a kick but not leave you feelings as if there is too much “pop” to it.
Enjoy!
