TechCrunch has an interesting article stating Apple will not release the official Google Voice application, developed by Google, in the App store and it is removing applications that utilize Google Voice. Why? Because the applications “duplicate features that come with the iPhone”.
First off, what is Google Voice? It happens to be on of the largest advances in VOIP technology in years in the sense that it has the abilityt to integrate all of your voice communications into one single hub. Really, check out this list of services it can provide. Free SMS. Free voicemail. Free call Screening. Free directory assistance. Boy, you don’t think that Apple is trying to put a ding in the Google Voice service because of their partnership with ATT, do you?
I think TC has it right with this passage:
The thing that really bothers me about the move is that Apple is now actively stifling innovation. Google Voice is the kind of service that can actually have a positive impact on your life, and not in a frivolous, entertainment-related sense. It makes it easier to connect with people, and to manage those connections.
Over and over I’ve openly aired my fears on the control Apple is trying to assert with the platforms they own. I cannot wait for the new G2 phone to hit the market as I will no longer be using the iPhone – or any Apple product – for my communication needs. I want to be able to use the product in the means that fit my needs and not how the company tells me I must use it.
A concerted effort to start unprecedented talks between Taliban and British and American envoys was outlined today in a significant change in tactics designed to bring about a breakthrough in the attritional, eight-year conflict in Afghanistan.
Really… I don’t now what to think and feel but I do know I have problems with it.
When one looks at the players throughout the history of baseball – all the flash in the plan players to those who carried teams to victory – the two individuals inducted today are truly worth of the honor.
First, we have Rickey Henderson – THE – Rickey Henderson. A man who holds the records for stolen bases (1406) and Runs (2295). To obtain this achievement, Henderson needed to pass to of the most prolific runners in the history of the game – Lou Brock and Ty Cobb. Ever time Henderson was on base the fans would simply wait for the magic to happen.
Good for you, Rickey. I still have the autograph you gave me back in 1991.
The second inductee today is LONG overdue. One of the most feared hitters in the game from 1978 to 1985, Jim Rice finally takes his turn at coopers town. Just take a look at the stats during that time period here ( http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/r/riceji01.shtml#1976-1985-sum:batting_standard ) you may have to page down a bit but it’s custom waiting for you there.
More than a powerful player, a player that all others should have copied, Jim Rice as a class act. When a team mate gets hurt or a young fan in the stands suffered an injury, Mr. Rice was there. For those of you who do not know this side of him watch this video.
Congrats to both of these men, men I look up to and enjoyed watching as a child.

Go ahead and tell me you didn’t feel like crying at one point during that video….It just goes to show that he was a human first, a father second and a baseball player last.
Congrats to both of these men, men I look up to and enjoyed watching as a child. Thanks for the good times.

Well, I’m looking at the whole concept of what is it I want to do in life. Yes, this is something I’ve been thinking about for some time but it seems that the subject is now getting more attention from me than previously.
Let me eliminate a few things here as I do have a job in a hard employment environment…. I do not have a bad job – it’s rather secure and it’s with a solid company – and I do not have a bad manager – when I look at my career I feel safe saying she is the best boss I’ve had in my career – it’s simply that I am looking at the entire life asking where is it I want to go and what do I want to do.
It was suggested to me that I write my “ideal job description” in order to help focus on what my next position in life could/should be. I’ve started writing the description, there are many more revisions and alterations that need to take place, but the entire experience is turning out to be an eye opener simply because I’m really starting to see that my choice of careers, while comfortable from an income perspective, does not really match with who and what I am as a person.
What is does match me? Good question and one that I do not know yet, but an answer that I am starting to look at.

The FBI arrested a top ten most wanted fugitive – Edward Eugene Harper - on 7/23. He had been on the run since 1994, living a nomadic lifestyle, and trying to stay under the radar of law enforcement.
I have to stress something here – he was living a nomadic lifestyle IN THE UNITED STATES, a country under the FBI’s jurisdiction, and it took them 14 years to track this guy down (and because of a tip at that).
You’ll find nothing but respect for law enforcement from me but I have to ask the quesiton if it takes 14 years to find a most wanted guy in the United States how does the FBI ever expect to find this man when he’s not even in this country?
The dog once known for the “Yo Quiero” ads is now a goner. Yea, I don’t care. However, as I was reading this story about the dog I realized that I was reading an obituary written as if the dog was a person.
The “mostly-retired” canine also appeared in the film “Legally Blonde 2,” starring as Bruiser’s mom. In addition, she appeared in a commercial for the ‘90s edition of Trivial Pursuit.
When she wasn’t starring in films and commercials, Gidget enjoyed taking hikes, sunning her fur and sleeping for 23 hours, her trainer Sue Chipperton told People.
Come on, people! She enjoyed “taking hikes”? Hikes? You have no clue if this thing liked “taking hikes” or licking her ass. This was a dog.
I’m not sure what’s going on at this very moment; however, every URL under my domain is erroring out. I know they are they… but they are coming up as a hostican 404.
Looking into it.
UPDATE: Ok… so… everything seems to be fully functional now with no changes on my side (don’t know about my provider). That was just odd.
Sitting here with no ability to feel sleepy I thought I would share a few random thoughts that are just popping around in my mind…
1) WHY don’t the site archive links work!?! I’m not sure if this an error with the template or something else with the DB. I need to get around to fixing that.
2) I don’t have many friends but the ones I do are genuine. I don’t need to talk to them for months, even years, and things feel natural… normal… and we have the ability to still sense what the other is feeling and know how to suppor them. That’s a wonderful thing to have.
3) I’m so backed up on email it’s not even funny.
4) I’ve been progamming a lot for the past few days. I really enjoy it (again). It’s funny because I HATED it when I was doing it for a career. Now it’s enjoyable once again.
5) Love the Venture Bros.
6) On the topic of friends – I don’t care for people who claim to be your friend but do not extend you respect.
7) What seems to be with the whole “shaven head” thing celebs are doing these days? I really, really like the current Dodge Challenger. Sweet looking car (from the outside) but it’s a Dodge so you know there is bound to be mechanical issues.
9) I miss cooking. Haven’t had the time and/or motivation. I also miss yeswecook.
10) The week is dragging on and on and on.
11) I’m going to stop music production. Time to sell the studio. While I did a number of sweet tracking in the last 6 months I just feel like it’s run a course and time to move on….
