Yesterday I was talking about free blogging services versus self-hosting, running down some of the pros and cons of both options. 

Today it hit me, and I am unsure as to why I didn’t ask the question before, but why and how did you end up selecting the hosting service you did?  Was it a money issue?  Was it an ease of use concern?  Simply didn’t want to spend the time to configure?

If you have a few seconds would you mind sending me an email – or leaving a comment in this post – as to how you came to your conclusion?

I was browsing around Googles various services and I saw that they did blogs. I barely knew what a blog was, so I decided to go for it, as I was at a hugely transitional time in my life. I didn’t even know about other free blogging services until months later. I also didn’t want to invest anything in blogging and I wanted to start right away. They’ve upgraded the service hugely since then and I have no real complaints now.
