I cannot stand spam, let alone trackback spam.  Hate it!  If your blog has any volume of traffic you have seen something like this in your “comments” section:

Really?  Like I am not going to figure out that your trackback has nothing to do with my original post, and that there is not information on “picturesofpregnancystages ”.   It seems that the trackback feature has become virtually useless for bloggers.  A new service, Psolenoid, is hoping to change that perception.

The pitch is that Psolenoid gives to potential users is that they:

help bloggers stay informed, connected and visible by interweaving and connecting topics in the blogosphere. Psolenoid also provides better visibility into the community and readership around your blog and allows users to create new memes and engage with pre-existing memes. As a hosted platform, Psolenoid by design is architected to prevent spammers from wiring posts to your blog.

Ok… so you are just providing a trackback service with a “sexier” interface.  I also get the feeling this service is dead on arrival and that the days of trackback are long since gone.

Hi, thank you for sharing your thoughts. I hope to clear out what we are trying to do here. Psolenoid is trying to provide better connectivity and visibility for–this is the important part–*any ordinary bloggers*. We make the connecting process very easy and intuitive, so that even a blogger who doesn’t know how to copy and paste codes can participate in conversations. We also support all types of blog platforms including Livejournal, Myspace Blog, Xanga, and many more which don’t have trackback support. Spam handling just comes as a derived feature of our platform architecture. I hope this answered your concerns. We got a lot more to come, so please stay tuned! Thanks.

It is easy to install. Easy to use, but impossible to find other blogs using it. They need a directory for sites with it installed.

@Eric,

Thanks for the comments – let me ask you this….

My big problem is that trackback, in general, seems to be nothing but a lot of spam these days. Yes, there will be a few good pings, but nothing major any more.

Based on your experience, do you think Psolenoid can be a success with trackbacks/pings on the decline.

Best,
V
